Get Ready for Spring Activities
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things that you can do for your health. More than 80% of adults and adolescents do not get enough. If you’re experiencing pain or haven’t been as active as you would have liked to be over the winter, now is a great time to be evaluated and work with your physical therapist to get ready for spring and summer activities.
Physical therapists are movement experts. We work with our patients to:
- Reduce pain
- Recover from injuries or surgeries
- Prevent injuries
- Enhance fitness
- Improve quality of life
Why Get a PT Exam?
An annual physical exam with your primary care provider is important. A key difference between an annual exam and an annual physical therapy exam is that annual exams give an overview of your overall health and an annual physical therapy exam is an in-depth evaluation of how your neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems are performing.
You should never go a year without having your joints, muscles and movement patterns checked.
Why is movement so important? Regular physical activity is one of the easiest ways to reduce your risk for chronic disease and improve your quality of life. Regular movement can help:
- Improve your memory and brain function
- Protect against many chronic diseases.
- Aid in weight management.
- Lower blood pressure and improve heart health.
- Improve your quality of sleep.
- Reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.
- Improve joint pain and stiffness.
- Maintain muscle strength and balance.
The earlier you get evaluated and treated, the better off you are. Research has shown that early intervention by a physical therapist is when you have your best chance for a full recovery.
